Hysterical

This series of work started with a piece Hysteria 2 (2021) that I created for the Hysterical show curated by Christine Mottau at the Ceres Gallery in NYC. The show dealt with the notion of Hysteria, an invented mental health condition that, according to early 20th century “medical experts,” made women neurotic due to a dysfunction of the uterus. As this body of work progressed, later works address other issues, that are products of our fears. In the past two much of what was lying in wait under the surface of people’s minds came to the surface and became real and palpable.
