Irina Sheynfeld grew up in Odesa, Ukraine, and later moved to New York City, where she continued her studies at Parsons School of Design. She is an artist and writer whose interdisciplinary practice spans visual art and critical writing. Her artistic work employs a wide range of media, including pastel, watercolor, oil, acrylic, printmaking, and computer-generated mixed-media collage.
Sheynfeld has exhibited her work nationally and internationally. She has participated in the Affordable Art Fair, New York, represented by Artios Gallery (Fall 2024; Spring and Fall 2025), including presentations at the Metropolitan Pavilion. In 2024, she was included in Artists on Antisemitism I at 81 Leonard Gallery, New York, and held a solo exhibition, Magic Mountain, at Ceres Gallery, New York. She was also selected for the 43rd Annual Western Spirit Juried Show at the Old West Museum in Cheyenne, Wyoming. In 2022, she participated in The Other Art Fair in Los Angeles. She is a recipient of COJECO’s Blueprint Fellowship and Grant and has been selected four times as an NYC Sing for Hope Piano Artist.
Alongside her visual art practice, Sheynfeld is a freelance journalist and art writer, and a regular contributor to CrossCurrents, an academic journal, and April Commons.
Sheynfeld is a co-founder of the Odesa Peace Fund, which provides humanitarian aid to Ukraine, and she regularly donates proceeds from her art to support the organization’s work. She lives and works in New York City with her three sons and a miniature labradoodle named Luke Skywalker.
